How To Know If You Can Trust A Guy
Trust is the foundation of any lasting
relationship. Whether you've just met the
right guy or you're in a long term relation-
ship you're going to be relying on trust.
Some guys however ,betray that trust, not
all of them mind you - just some. There are
plenty of great guys out there that will
give you everything you want in a relation-
ship, but the few who don't are just in it for
themselves, so you need to know how to
spot the signs and decide whether to carry
on or cut your losses.
When we think of whether we can trust our partner or not, we often
relate it being faithful i.e. Will he cheat on me?
But this is only one element of trust in a relationship.
We might actually think about trust in 3 ways:
- Trusting a guy to be faithful
- Trusting a guy to stay around
- Trusting a guy to be a caring partner
Below I want to go through some of the warning signs to look for in
a relationship that will indicate whether your man is the kind you
can trust in the long-term.
1. A guy who's not trustworthy lies about the small things.
If you notice your guy lies about little things, like where exactly
he was the other day, or who he was talking to on the phone, this
should send alarm bells ringing.
You have to ask yourself: If he would lie about this, what else
would he hide from me?
It might be tempting to brush off the fact that your guy lies about
little things, but really it's indicative of a larger character
flaw, one that he'll be likely to exhibit when it comes to bigger
issues.
2. Does he care about your opinion of him?
A guy you can trust is a guy who wants you to think well of him.
See how he acts when he makes little mistakes. If he wants to
correct them or is concerned about your opinion of him, you know
it's a man you can trust long-term.
If he couldn't care less what you think and makes no effort or
small apology despite you communicating how you feel, you want to
be wary as to whether this man is someone you can trust to be
caring in a relationship.
3. Does he want to be a better man for you?
Does your man want to improve himself, or correct what he sees as
his bad habits?
When a man wants to better, you can relax. Because you know that
he's not just with you for a quick bit of fun, or because it's
easy. He wants you to see him at his best, which is a sure sign
that he plans on staying around for some time.
4. When you're upset or in a bad mood, does he want to make it better?
This is how you tell if you can trust your man to be there for you
and be the caring kind of person you expect from a partner.
Think of little examples, like if you're feeling under the weather
or really need a favour, or someone to help you change a tire.
Now not every guy will be perfectly competent or able to come to
your rescue, but does he make every effort to do so?
Does he run to the supermarket to find you something to make you
feel better, or jump in his car to come to your rescue?
These are the little signs you need to look for that indicate
everything about the kind of guy you can trust for the long-term.
